The '70s machines have a style that is very distinctive and reminds me of some objects from "Star Wars." Of course, their shell is also mostly plastic. A lot of people are turned off by the look of these typewriters, but they at least deserve some attention from typewriter and design historians.
Yes... you love them or you hate them. In my case the first curvy design of 3000 and mint keys reminds me post-soviet era hospitals in Poland and their equimpment. It's not a good association. But I didn't see one in real so my opinion might change.
