Those SMC Classic 12 typewriters are great machines, and fun to use. They are also very well made, and generally under-rated. The only thing I don't like about them is the hollow aluminum platen. When the rubber gets hard typing gets quite loud and metallic sounding. When that happens I send the platen off to JJ Short (New Jersey, USA)
I have a soft spot in my heart for that generation of Smith-Corona typewriters.
