Maintentance Tip: Ozone Generator

I recently acquired an ozone generator in order to do occasional cleaning of air-conditioning in my car and remove mites/mold from piece of clothes/plush toys/pillows etc.
I also thought about cleaning the typewriters with it :)

It can help kill smells and all bacteria on the device.

The one precaution that I did was to remove rubber parts - I read that ozon can harm the rubber. Maybe in 60-70 year old platen it won’t do any harm - It’s usually rock-hard already, but who know.... ;)

I putted the machine in the vacuum bag, so the ozone (that is also dangerous to the lungs!) won’t harm anybody and also for the better quality of process (the quantity of ozone particles are essential to the process)

One have to avoid the sunlight as well, because in some cases ozone and UV light can change the colour of plastic for example :)

Typosphere in the time of COVID-19

Important notice.

Due the COVID-19, shipping outside Poland is now on the halt.
The Etsy shop is closed till the end of quarantine!!!

The good part is that probably I'll have more time to type, write and post on blog ;)
And prepare some new typewriters to offer... :-p

Maintenance Tip: Toothbrush

How to clean the hammers in the quickest way?
Use electric toothbrush, soaked in spirit or high-alcohol based cleaner ;)Carefully cover the rest of the typewriter, leaving only the hammers in sight (it can be messy), dip the brush in the detergent (I use the bottle cork for the job) and clean!
With heavier grease or old ink use more aggressive detergent, just put extra care in covering the rest of the machine.

TT: Blinds

 Typewriter Test: Blinds

This time I've got a strange idea... At my client's office I have found cutted to A4 format blinds (window blinds/shutters/sunshades) - to be precise the material that they are made of :)

He prepared them for the sample segregator for customers... and give me handful of sheets from past seasons :)

I used some factored paper, cardboard... so naturally when I saw this, I needed to type on it!

The outcome is... interesting. It's typepable (?) for sure. I wonder how material will handle the time and sun, or rather how my typing will endure over time. Right now I prepared cover pages to my journal, and labels for the backpack.

It might be interesting idea to use this scraps in decoupage, or even clothes (probably typing won't survive the washing machine... but who knows?

The idea is to type few times the same sentence at the same spot.
